Who We Are
Elevate FM began October 13, 2014 after running a bluegrass music format eight years. Prior to that, for ten years, Elevate FM was known as “The J-FM” and played similar music to what we have now.
Elevate FM plays what is known as a “hot adult contemporary/Christian hit radio” (a.k.a. Hot AC/CHR) music. Those artists include tobyMac, Skillet, Plumb, Britt Nicole, Needtobreathe, Switchfoot and a bunch of others.
We run this awesome music around the clock, with the exception of the live worship service from First Baptist Church in Murray beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
We broadcast at 89.7 FM with 6,000 watts of power from Hardin, Kentucky in southern Marshall county. Our signal covers most of western Kentucky with us dipping down into parts of northwest Tennessee and on up to southern Illinois.
Our Vision
We are a ministry that happens to be a radio station, not the other way around. Our cornerstone is Jesus. Nothing more. In fact, we live by what our late friend Bob Warren used to say: “Jesus plus nothing”.
Philippians 4:8 claims:
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
That’s our battle cry. Our go-to verse. Our philosophy.
Organization
Our radio station is listener-supported, meaning we do not sell commercials or receive grants from the government. We raise funds through business and church underwriters and individual contributors just like yourself!
Heartland Ministries, Inc. began in 1989 with the signing on of WVHM-FM 90.5. In 1996, they received approval to build WAAJ-FM (which is now Elevate FM) at 89.7 FM. Then, in 1999, we added a third station – Truth 88 (WTRT).
On June 1, 2023, Heartland Ministries, Inc., the former parent non-profit organization of Elevate FM, merged with Pennyrile Christian Community, Inc. (Missionary Radio).
